Marlena Loughheed served as the Communications Coordinator in the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Office of Public Relations and Communications for the past five years. She departed the archdiocese in late July to pursue a vocation to religious life with the Sisters of Life. Her story in Convivium, an online space bringing together people of differing convictions and religious denominations, provides some background on Marlena’s discernment process and decision to enter religious life.

As a child, I wanted to be famous. It wasn’t so much that I wanted to be well known or revered. Rather, I wanted my life to matter. In my limited childhood understanding, fame was the reward for a life that mattered.
